About
I'm a sociologist, working as Post-doc Researcher at Padova University, with the CIGA Centre and the Research Unit PaSTIS within the Department of Sociology.
My main research interests are in the fields of science and technology, consumption, cultural studies, digital cultures, popular music, art and creativity. From a theoretical perspective, one of the main interests of mine is developing the intersection between sociology of technology, cultural sociology and consumer studies in order to analize the emerging practices of consumption of everyday technologies.
In these last few years, I have published more than thirty articles and chapters on scientific books and journals such as «Journal of Consumer Culture», «Appetite», «Modern Italy», «Rassegna Italiana di Sociologia», «Tecnoscienza», «Studi Culturali», «Sociologica», «il Mulino». Currently, I'm completing a book in italian on the consumption of musical listening technologies (il Mulino, expected in 2012); i'm also finishing to edit togheter with Federico Neresini a book on the social representations of science & technology in Italian TV (il Mulino: end of 2011).
Since 2010 I'm co-editing TECNOSCIENZA: the italian Journal of science and technology studies, which is the italian reference for the social study of science and technology. It is open access: download the journal free from here. I'm also member of the Board of Directors of "STUDI CULTURALI" (Il Mulino), where currently working to edit (together with Marco Santoro) a Special Issue on Sound Culture, in italian expected by mid 2012.
Currently I'm working (or I have just finished to work) on several different research projects: A) a research on hacking practices and users' modificatiosn of digital technologies; B) a research on the representations of science and technologies in the italian TV advertising; C) a research (part of an European project) on the electronic music Festival Sònar in Barcelona; D) a research on the social representation of nanotechnologies and their innovations.
